Hello Everyone.
Starting Monday, August 1, we will work out of the Homeland Park Baptist Church Family Life Center. We will be there from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. I have been asked if the school will be ready for the students to return on August 16th. Unless a problem occurs that is unexpected, we are on schedule and students will return on the 16th. If there are no delays with the construction, you will have an opportunity to see your "new" school on Sunday, August 14th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The 2011-2012 school year will be a great year for the school and the community. We have a renovated school, Lowe's is coming, and a new industry is under construction to mention a few positive changes. At your school, you will see many new changes. All of the changes is to provide a rich learning culture for the students. I know you will help me embrace these changes and continue to support the school. It is an honor to serve a community that has high expectations for the success of the children. Anderson School District Five, its board, and the faculty and staff of Homeland Park Elementary are committed to making sure these expectations are met.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. My family and I have spent a lot of time camping this summer. I can't wait to hear about your adventures. The school has really changed over the summer. You are going to love it. Right now, everything is on schedule. Mark your calendar for August 14. We will have our Open House.
The beginning of the year is always a busy time. So, take a break from purchasing school supplies. The school will purchase the essential items the students will need for school. If you have any questions over the summer,you may email me or call the school number.

Getting Everything Up To Date

HPES' blog has not been updated in a while. I apologize for that. I will do my very best to keep it updated. I have a few school pictures on my phone that I will try to upload for your viewing. Our school has nothing in it. All of the rooms have been stripped. The new cabinets should arrive soon, and they will begin painting this week.
Please make sure you are reading this summer. A book can take you to unknown places and wild adventures. If you read a good book, please share it with me.

Construction Update 8.5.10

The stage is coming down! Room 106 has a hole in the wall for the new section. There are a lot of holes in the ground where new lines are being installed. AND, there are blocks being laid where our new section will be.

Construction is underway at HPES! The back of the school is receiving a lot of changes. There is a new retention pond that will help with storm water run off. The stage and the back wall of the gym will be removed soon. This will make way for the new kitchen and stage. These are exciting times at HPES!

9:00 am – 11:30 am

(No drop offs before 8:45 am for safety, please use
The carpool line or walk your child to gym lobby)

Where: Westside High School Gym

Cost:
If Registered by June 3, 2010
$30.00 (1 child), $50.00 (2 siblings), $80.00 (3 siblings)

After June 4th there is an additional $5.00 charge per camper.
Registration on the first day of camp is available for $35.00

This cheerleading camp is for all persons interested in learning new cheers,
stunts, chants, and dance. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

Pictures will be made on June 9, 2010 at 9:30 at
Packages must be ordered and paid for during this time.

On Friday, June 11 at 10:00, the campers will put on a performance for their
friends and families, showing off what they have learned during the week. Bring your camera and video equipment. Please have girls wear their camp shirts this day!

Fifth Grade Visit Anderson University for "Future Days!"

HPES' 5th graders got a first hand look at what college will be like. Dr. Hanley welcomed them, and prepared them for college. Then many of the staff members and students of AU shared their experiences. We would like to thank all of Anderson University for a wonderful time and educational experience.
