Dr. Jordan Williams devotes her life to two things saving patients in the operating room and pleasuring her latest conquest in the bedroom. Her idea of commitment is spending a few hours together in bed. Single mom Emma Larson is Jordan’s polar opposite. Family and fidelity mean everything to her. After an ugly divorce from her wife, a plastic surgeon, she and her five-year-old daughter move in next door to Jordan. While she finds Jordan undeniably attractive, falling in love with another womanizing surgeon is the last things she needs. When a bad fall leaves Jordan in need of assistance, Emma decides to help her while she recovers. Could those six weeks turn out to be the beginning of a happily ever after, or will they both end up with a broken heart?
Falling Hard Jae Books
This book was okay. I have to agree with some of the previous 3 star ratings in that, I felt like there wasn't really anything to make this book stand a part from other novels from this author. There wasn't really an obstacle that Jordan and Emma had to overcome to make things work. I find it a little hard to believe that a womanizer can suddenly go from being commitment-phobic to wanting to be with one woman for the rest of her life, especially one with a child. One thing I really appreciated, and have been from this author, is the ability to write about women of color and some of the challenges that they may face and struggle with. I felt like the issue with race was handled nicely, and it didn't feel forced. Overall, a nice little love story, but not my favorite from this author.Product details

Falling Hard Jae Books Reviews
Out of all of Jae other books I have read, this is my least favorite. That isn’t saying much because I love all her books. I liked it but I disliked some things. At first I didn’t like Jordan. For me, it was kind of annoying for a character to talk about sex so much. She didn’t have a lot of personality for me because of that so I didn’t really connect with her. About half way through I started to like her. I loved Emma & Molly. They were so sweet. I liked Emma & Jordan the second half of the book. They were so cute. Since I didn’t connect with one main character for half the book it’ll have to be 3 stars for me.
I enjoyed this book. Both lead characters were well developed. I was pleased with how well the characters complimented each other, plus the kid Molly was too adorable. Would have loved to see more sex between the two ladies, they deserve some really hot love scenes. Would love a sequel for this brand new family, to watch their family dynamic as well as hopefully their growing family. Well done!!
I truly enjoyed this book, which isn't a surprise as I have yet to be disappointed by Jae's works. Enjoyed seeing Hope and Lalah from Heart Trouble make an appearance. One of the things I actually enjoyed most was the fact both of the main characters had read or were reading Fletcher DeLancey's Alsea series. Jae knows how to craft compelling characters and stories which just bring a smile to your face when you read it.
I was truly happy to find this wasn't even remotely one of the formula books where you can predict the action by the page count.
The Molly interactions with Jordan and Emma made the book. Molly is too damned cute for words. A pleasant read and the mental image of Mouse with his green cast still has me smiling.
I didn't feel the MC's as deeply as in some other works of Jae's, but that is not to say they were bad at all.
Before I say anthing about the book itself let me just say that I've been hooked on Jae's writing for weeks. I read half of what she's published so far and every time I finished a story of hers, I put down my phone thinking "Yes, this is it. This is my favorite book from her". Then, buying the next one instantly, I fell in love with the next couple of ladies she introduced to me. Her writing style is captivating and real, it creates a universe where I enjoy losing myself, a safe heaven when real life makes living difficult.
This book presented many all-too-real relatinship problems, obsticles and hardships - especially of a single mom trying her best to raise a kid alone -, yet it never lingered on them. It might have been due to the fact that the promise of the happy ending was there in every situation and the strenght of the growing bond between them was evident. Emma is a perfect match for Jordan, not just as a romantic partner, but as someone who challenged the doctor enough to make her interrested and invested in her (for something more than just physical... pun intended). The way we got to witness Jordan getting to know Molly and their interaction were just heartwarming. I was worried that that part of the story wouldn't feel authentic, but I shouldn't have - it was weaved into the story flawlessly, addig a lot of emotional weight to it. As much as I hated Chloe she gave the book a nice contrast and showed how life isn't perfect all the time. Couldn't help but grin every time Hope and/or Laleh were mentioned. It was like seeing friends after a long time and noticing how much they've grown as a couple together was just too cute.
All in all, loved it, like all the other books before, and this is my favorite! Right now. But I'm starting another one now so that title will probably soon belong elsewhere !
Dr. Jordan Williams is a driven plastic surgeon who works hard, and plays just as hard. Avoiding any sort of commitment, she avoids all possible relationships for brief sexual encounters.
Emma Larson is a single mum who moves in next door. Having just left a philandering plastic surgeon wife, Emma is completely unimpressed by the sexy but single Jordan who lives next door. When their lives collide, Jordan starts to realise what she's missing out on with her superficial idea of connection. But will Emma let her in?
Jae's writing is always good and her characters are always strong, and fun. However, this book didn't grab my attention the way some of her other books have. It's a solid romance, and you can't go wrong with that, but it isn't her best work. It's a fun diversion though, so enjoy.
I really wanted to like this book. I'm a Jae fan, and her writing prowess alone is enough to get me to reread her books.
But, Falling Hard fails hard by employing every single trope/cliche/cringe-worthy moment that you have ever read in lesbian fiction. For the first time ever reading a Jae novel, I skipped entire sections and rolled my eyes at the constant (!) accidental brushing of fingers, player gets every woman ever to throw themselves at her, I'm so wary because last relationship hurt me, etc. etc ugh. Over, and over, and over.
Do yourself a favor and skip this book, but not Jae as an author. Go find her older books and enjoy original narratives, lovely prose and trope-free fiction because while she can put together a read-worthy lesbian romance, you won't find it here.
This book was okay. I have to agree with some of the previous 3 star ratings in that, I felt like there wasn't really anything to make this book stand a part from other novels from this author.
